CrossRoads Administration

Dr. Erin Doty, Principal

I am so excited to be starting another year at CRIS! I have been a middle grades educator for 24 years, and I absolutely love working with sixth graders. The 2023-24 school year will mark my 12th year as an administrator, and my 4th year as the principal of CRIS. Before coming to CRIS, I served as the Assistant Principal for Instruction at both Dutch Fork Middle School and Irmo Middle School as well as the English Language Arts Coordinator for District Five. I began my career as an educator teaching 6th grade English and spent 12 years as a classroom teacher. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Florida State University in 2000; a Master's in Administration and Supervision from The University of South Carolina (UofSC) in 2012; and a Doctoral Degree in Language and Literacy from UofSC in 2021.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy exercising and being a mom to my three college kids who all graduated from D5 schools. I am so proud to be a part of the CossRoads Intermediate School family and thrilled to work with all of our students, staff, and parents this year.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

It is hard to believe that I am entering my 20th year in education.  CrossRoads has been my home throughout my educational career.  This school-year marks my 5th year as an assistant principal.  Before moving into administration, I taught math for 15 years.  My years of experience with 6th graders have familiarized me with the needs of the students at this age group and developmental level.

Prior to my career as an educator, I served in the ARMY as a Military Police Officer.  My military experience afforded me opportunities to travel and meet people from many different backgrounds and cultures. This experience provided me with discipline, organization, and attention to detail, which has played an important role in my career as an educator.  I am excited about this school year and the opportunity to build new relationships with our rising 6th graders and can’t wait to see them grow as learners and as individuals.

Education
Bachelor of Education: Columbia College, Columbia, SC
Master of Education in Divergent Learning: Columbia College, Columbia, SC
Educational Leadership and Administration Certification: Gardner-Webb University.

Interests
My free time is usually spent in the garage working on a DIY project, mostly woodworking.  I also enjoy time outside and being active/working out.
